I was wondering how much boost i could run on pump gas with the 10.4 to 1 compression. I can get a great deal on a vortech a-trim w/power pipe, msd btm, pro-m 80mm mass air, and a custom burnt chip. The motor is a high compression 306 w/ edelbrock heads, e-cam, RPM 2 intake and has dynoed at 296hp and 310tq (air/fuel at 11.5...still got some more power left in it) w/ a non lockup converter. The a-trim has the stock pulley on it and maxed out at 6psi and i would like to know if its possible for me to put it on my car without hurting the motor.

If you have a stock 5.0 block, crank and rods I wouldn't run ANY boost with 10.4:1 compression. But that just me.

Even still. It's not a 4 bolt main. I would think 9:1 would be the most I would run.

I don't think it can be done. Your compression is already on the edge of what pump gas can handle. High compression + boost = carnage.

i read somewhere on here that the boost and compression fight and tend to throw things around if that helps

thanks for the opinions everyone! Why is it that LS1 motors have 10 to 1 compression and run 9psi and they are alright? Even tho im not a big fan of nitrous(had a nasty backfire) i'll just go with the NX kit that ive been lookin at.

You have a brand new D.S.S 306 w/ edelbrock aluminum heads, E303, and a RPM 2 intake and only getting 296 ponniesand 310 Ft lbs of torque?? I have a little over that with a factory 302 w/ gt-40p's with very like work, 1.72 roller rockers, and a cobra intake the biggest difference is mine has 130,000 miles. Juice is almost you only "forced induction" with the compression that high with out runnin, race fuel.

Cause the kits the LS1's use pull a lot of timing to compensate for the high compression ratio.

My car only makes 296rwhp and 310rwtq at the wheels cause of a non-lockup converter. If my car had the drivetrain loss that a stick does it would make in the range of 320hp and 335tq. This motor is still emissions legal and has had no tuning at all.

What you just put it on the rollers to see what it gets. Then pulled it off?? Tuning helps especially if you want a power adder

I ran out of dyno time. I made 3 pulls first being 291hp then i upped the fuel pressure by accident and it dropped power to 286hp. On the last run i dropped the fuel pressure down and came out with 296hp. I recently broke my fuel pressure gauge that I had on the fuel line so im unsure what psi the fuel pressure is at.
