For code 66 I checked wiring from maf harness to computer at pin at 37/57 power, pin 40/60 ground, pin 9 and pin 50 with battery test light and all seem good. Now going to check resistance.. with maf unplugged.. it is a 93mm velocity maf meter from pmas.
tried unplugging both solenoids for the tab tad.. and also unplugged maf meter.. unhooked ground from battery hooked back up.. retested with above unplugged.. got 15 81 82 and 96.. Then I hooked everything back up.. retested and still got 15 81 82 and 96...????
So fired it up.. It runs still.. like idles alright.. can't breath though.. was running at 10 to 1 for a bit.. or 10.5... but still smells like gas in the air..
jrich is it possible that the maf error code has something to do with that it is a more accurate mass air meter. It is a brand new velocity meter from PMAS. It has 4 inch opening and I am using this with a 4 inch anderson powerpipe to 75mm accufab tb with 4 inch opening.. Was just thinking that with more accurate mass air meter, it could be giving a low voltage at idle, maybe lower then the stock meter would give. I have heard that with tuning it is good to lower the minimum MAF voltage in the computer to allow for a wider range of readings.. Anyone have to do this??
Found this from EEC Tuning Forum "The 'MAF Min Volts' (aka VMAMIN) is a limit indicating open circuit that is checked during normal running. Ideally it needs to be low enough not to trigger false error codes but still high enough to function correctly. Usually you datalog your MAF voltage and set it slightly lower than the typical lowest voltage you observe."
So I am going to try to datalog the maf voltage.. at idle.. and go slightly lower then the voltage I see.. then I will retest and see if I get any errors..
Last night I removed my moates quarterhorse.. plugged in my computer without the chip.. and after work when I checked the code 15 disappeared.. read that code 15 is common with a chip..
I know 96 is because of the mass air conversion..
But I am still stumped on code 81 and 82..
I am going to try running the car without the chip and see what errors I get.. then will plug the moates back in and try to datalog.. and will retest and see what I find..
Do the simple things first - like using a good voltmeter to actually measure the MAF output at the computer. You may have some wiring problems or even a DOA MAF sensor.
okay I will do that.. working a 12 hour 2 30 am to 2 30 pm shift so won't be able to check it today.. but first thing I will do is check the voltage at the computer..
