I got a question about my 95 Gt, I just rebuilt the stock bottom end and added a set of GT40P heads and the ford ecam. Ive heard a lot about how the eec-IV computers suck and im having problems with the car idiling. Sometimes it will be fine and other times it will just stall out, this seems to be a commen problem with these cars. I was wondering if getting a custom chip burned for the car would fix this problem if so what are some good brands. If not what are my other options to fix this problem?

it is not so much that they suck ... they are actually better. but they are more finicky than the older computers because of the stricter emmissions rules they had to adhere to.

a custom tune would probably be the best. contact [email protected], he really knows his stuff.

in the meantime, increasing the idle speed usually helps.

The suck in that equation comes from the E-Cam. It was designed in the 80s for engines from the 80s. That is a common problem with the E-cam. There are plenty of cams you could have dropped in that would not give you as severe idle issues.

Definitely increase the idle speed as mentioned to around 900, and if you have a fuel pressure regulator, bump the fuel pressure to ~43. This is a temporary band aid until you get the tune, though. The computer will eventually adapt to the fuel pressure increase.
