Considering Jumping to the Blue Oval any Ideas?

Hey guys I used to be a regular on the V6 boards but then I got a 1988 Chevy Camaro. Well needless to say I'm wanting something ALOT newer but I want to keep the V8. I'm looking at 2000-2001 Mustang GTs. I need to know some of the common problems with these cars. I've driven one recently but it was a standard and i'm slowly learning how to handle a Tremec 5 speed. Trust me now that i've driven a 5 speed car I love them and when I get my GT it will have a 5 speed. What am I looking at as far as pricing and mileage? Any help you guys can give me is appreciceated and i'm happy to be back on StangNet.com :flag:

Get something else. 'Stangs have too many problems. Get yourself a fast V6. A V6 that has more than 260 hp, like a 350Z (280 hp) or something bad ass like that.

Anyway...most problems turn out to be minor although there have been a few tranny problems that are being worked out. (check the tremec 3650 sticky at the top of the forum). Otherwise you would get a good car. I'm thinking arounf the 11-12k range for the year you are looking at in good condition.
Just do some homework and you can make better judgements on what would be good for you.

You know overall the Mustang is extremely reliable and has very few problems, try owning some other brands of cars and you will see what I mean. The grass is always greener somewhere else bro.

I've wanted a Mustang for awhile and I don't want to spend money on a brand new 350Z. I've heard nothing but good things about these cars. I love my Camaro don't get me wrong but I need something newer. 10 to 11K is where I was looking at so i'm good there. Insurance wise well i'm 18 so I know it's going to be pricey. I just might have to switch to Geico lol. Thanks guys :p

I dont know what the insurance is like in Arkansas but I am with Statefarm Insurance and no one can beat them. I called Geico to get a price check and they wouldnt even take the time to look it up when I said I had Statefarm. It might be something to look into! Good luck! I love my 01. I bought it with 19k and it has almost 50k now. (I put about 90 miles a day on my car!!!) So far, the only thing I have had a problem with was the pulley, and that was only at about 36k. Also, squeaky tie rods but that was fixed with a 2$ Needle and some greece!!!
