Console gets hot

Just noticed today for the first time while driving my console (ash tray up to beside the radio was pretty hot) The quarters in the ash tray were hot to touch. You could feel a little heat on your legs coming from it. Anyone esle ever noticed this or do I have a problem? Something with the tranny getting to hot?

mine heats up quite a bit too, especially in the summer. After driving for a bit it feels like i have the heater on and set to "floor" on the console when its not even on. Also the metal part of the shifter gets extremely hot as well. Tranny fluid is fine too, pink as can be.

Check and make sure the inner rubber boot on the shifter doesn't have any rips or tears in it.

Installed a MGW last week so that may be my problem. Will check it out. Thanks
