So here we go...

My dad told me this a while back. He's the service manager at Ford and I kinda trust his judgement. Well, he told me that a while back a guy he knows bought a Mustang or something from the dealership new. The guy said he absolutely LOVED the car. He was getting like 30 or 40 mpg in it. My dad thought this was completely odd...especially for a mustang. A week later his friend got a recall letter in the mail telling him there was a recall on his carburetor. He took it into my dad's shop and Ford reps went in and replaced the carburetor. After this he was down to getting 20 or so mpg.

He also told me that there was a guy that had the same thing happen to him but refused to go in for the recall. He said guys in suits showed up at his house, popped his hood, and took it out.

I'm a bit skeptical but what do you think? Do we know how much money governments are making on gas sales? Tons. We HAVE to buy it. There's no getting around it. Just like water. If they raised the prices on water....We'd HAAAVE to buy it. Its impractical to go without a car. It may be plausible to cut back but in the end we still need to fill our tank. So by diliberately making cars chug more gas, we end up paying more money to fill our cars up. :flag:

Speaking of....Gas prices are supposed to go up $.60 by tomorrow. Everyone is supposed to fill up tonight and wait out the Labor day weekend. $3.00 is RIDICULOUS.

----May not but true but its something to think about.

I wasn't laughing at you pliskin. It was PolkThug. He gets me all the time..LOL

As for thinking about conspiracies, I am still in mode from the 06 BP gas cap branding!

Well even if it were true that they were getting that good of gas mileage (which I highly doubt) there could have been a number of reasons why they would want to put out a recall. Maybe those carbureators were potentionally dangerous. Anyways, you should think about what you are saying because it makes no sense. When is the last time an auto manufacterer put out a recall for only a few cars? (2 in this case)

Some other car maybe? I dont know. Just word comin down the grape vine. Now everyone needs to just chill the hell out. I didn't say this is confirmed or that its fact...

CHILL OUT

Total BS this story has been going around for 60 years in various forms.

Ask yourself why would the auto companies be spending billions of $$ developing hybrids, electric cars, hydrogen engines, fuel cells, etc. if all they had to do was put a carburator on a car that would double the mileage?

Well that puts that to rest. Still doesn't change the fact our government is ****ing is over with gas prices.

How exactly is our government in control of gasoline prices? I have a co-worker who insists GWB is in complete control of the price of gas, I'd like to hear any rational explantion that supports this theory :)

That we dont use our reserves to to least drop it thirty cents? I'm not a goddamn political expert here go ask some CNN ****. Goddamn you people are ****ing edgy. Which makes me edgy. Wah wah wah your story is a legend you're stupid for even bringing this up. Wah wah wah I eat my cereal out of George Bush's ass every day. Wah wah wah.

Can't have a good conversation around here.

And yeah I know about the hurricans but that has only sent us up to $3 a gallon. it hasn't been the factor that sent us up to $2.50 to begin with. its called the war in the middle east. its called George Bush and Cheney making money off it and don't wanna give it up. :fuss:

I'm venting. Just realized I got too angry for no reason. Whoops
