So here we go...
My dad told me this a while back. He's the service manager at Ford and I kinda trust his judgement. Well, he told me that a while back a guy he knows bought a Mustang or something from the dealership new. The guy said he absolutely LOVED the car. He was getting like 30 or 40 mpg in it. My dad thought this was completely odd...especially for a mustang. A week later his friend got a recall letter in the mail telling him there was a recall on his carburetor. He took it into my dad's shop and Ford reps went in and replaced the carburetor. After this he was down to getting 20 or so mpg.
He also told me that there was a guy that had the same thing happen to him but refused to go in for the recall. He said guys in suits showed up at his house, popped his hood, and took it out.
I'm a bit skeptical but what do you think? Do we know how much money governments are making on gas sales? Tons. We HAVE to buy it. There's no getting around it. Just like water. If they raised the prices on water....We'd HAAAVE to buy it. Its impractical to go without a car. It may be plausible to cut back but in the end we still need to fill our tank. So by diliberately making cars chug more gas, we end up paying more money to fill our cars up.
Speaking of....Gas prices are supposed to go up $.60 by tomorrow. Everyone is supposed to fill up tonight and wait out the Labor day weekend. $3.00 is RIDICULOUS.
----May not but true but its something to think about.

There'll be a bloody mess if I see anybody in my garage popping my hood. I don't care if they're dressed like the pope.
