Convertible mirrors on a coupe

I was wondering I've seen the convertible style mirrors on hatchbacks before and they look real clean, like on the Dugan Viper. Has anyone seen these on a lx coupe before? Maybe it might be an interesting mod? I guess to remove them you would need to put a convertible exterior cover on them or something.

I believe I've seen a pic somewhere, but don't remember if it was a notch or hatch. Yeah, you would have to get the convertible door top molding. Trying to visualize it, but I keep thinking it may be a little bulky for a notch or hatch. But I would be curious to see, before I formed a final opinion

The weatherstripping wont look, or seal right if you swap doors. If you want the mirrors, then just get the mirrors and associated trim off the vert doors, and do the swap that way

Thats what I thought how could it ever seal on the upper part of the body with just a window there. Also, if I was to put convertible mirrors on my coupe what about the part that the orignal mirror was located could I modify it to look the convertible door without that whole triangle part?

Well doesn't the convertible and the hardtops have the same door windows? If I'm right then that whole piece could just as easily be removed and so that it looks just like the convertibles where there is a full window look.

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the glass is different as well. I see what your saying though. I guess you could modify that area to have the open look. If the glass is different maybe you could swap for the vert glass

i have an 87 t-top car that had the regular mirrors on the doors but the doors were hollowed out.i have bought vert doors and plan on swapping everything over from my other doors because i love the look of the vert mirrors on t-top cars .good luck with your project but it will not be easy

I wonder if the glass is actually different I don't think anybody knew an exact answer? It would look cleaner with the full glass all the way across the door I just wonder if the convertible mirrors will look good on it.

The t-top/vert glass IS different from the hardtop.......I went through hell trying to get my t-top driver window replaced when it got smashed out.

am i the only one that likes the regular hardtop mirrors more? i like how small they are.

They're visually appealing, but virtually worthless for actually SEEING anything behind you. Having those convex "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" mirrors helps a bit, but they're still friggin' tiny. More often than not, I find myself just having to swivel my head around and look three times in every direction when changing lanes because those mirrors are so damned worthless. :notnice:

When your trying to change lanes quick in split seconds the only thing that helped me was the huge hatch window in my first mustang the lx hatch. The mirrors are worthless and the style of the convertible mirrors is much nicer, even though I like the stock mirrors. I want to fit figure out a way to fit convertible glass in the doors I wonder what the size difference is? I just want a full door glass without the triangle trim. I wonder if its possible?
