I was wondering if anyone has ever redone their convertible top themselves? I own a 91 GT vert and it has the original top. The top has some pretty bad tears and needs to be replaced. Just wondering if its worth the effort to do it myself(if its not too complicated)or let the pro's handle this one?

Yes it can be done.
No it is not most people or someone without above average mechanical skills and as mentioned a professional (air) stapler, glue gun. There's a good DVD on the internet that one guy sells that is a must. I suggest you watch the previews and see if it's something you want to consider tackling.

That being said, I've seen professional top installations that look like crap too. A good intalled top will run anywhere from $700-1200 bucks. Wether you do it yourself or have it installed, get a good quality top. I like EZON tops... check out topsonline.com for some reference. You also need to factor in new pads, tack strips, possible cables, and possible weather strip.
