among the other things listed, alum rad, billet electric water pump, manual steering (a bitch for a DD tho), battery in trunk (more for wieght transfer, but thats the goal along with weight reduction), lightweight front brakes like Wilwoods, and some skinnies for track duty wouldn't hurt either...just some suggestions guys....my dad got 197 lbs off the front of his chevelle over the winter, and he used those things about along with a few other things that wouldn't apply to late model mustangs such as a 3lb fiberglass front bumper

The sound deadening stuff definately isnt 80 lbs. Maybe 15-25 tops throughout the whole car.

I don't know man, I read somewhere that a guy took out all his sound deadening material, and he had like 3.5 garbage bags full of it, and they weighed like 20 lbs a piece. When I took out my insulation pad under the rear seat, that thing was damn heavy just by itself.

Most likely you WOULD gain the biggest advantage by removing your sound detoner material. My 87 GT CONV weighs 4100, and i have removed my back seat and i may have been looking at losing about 6-7 pounds. My friend has a 96 GT and his car weighs over 4400, so im guessing that the mid 90's year models gained the extra weight with the sounds blocking material and all of the added safety equipment. I can say that if you do remove your back seat you wont really have to worry about it being TOO loud, because the carpet alone will muffle it alot; when my back was bare metal it was very loud, but once i carpeted it, it sounded the same as before.

Your cars don't weigh that much. If you got that weight from the door sticker, that's maximum pulling weight, as in how much the car is able to pull safely fully loaded. Like with 4 passengers and luggage.

I'd guess that mine is probably one of the heavier ones out there - it weighs 3800 with me in it. Up 100# from a year and a half ago - I seem to be going in the opposite direction. But the Windsor block weighs 100+# more than the 302 and all the turbo crap is heavy too. I did move the battery to the trunk so it won't be quite as nose heavy. Plus I got rid of my skinnys up front - too scary on the street.

Don't go too crazy getting rid of the comfort features, just add more power

Well, i stand corrected, because i was getting our weight from the door stickers where it says total curb weight. If thats not where you all get your weight from, then how do you get it, i wouldnt mind knowing how much my car weighed stock?

No, you can NOT use that weight. We either weight our cars at the track on its scales or any place that can weigh a vehicle like a place that sells stone, coal, etc.

Like Paul said, if your track has a scale (mine doesn't ) then you can weigh it there. Otherwise, you might try the city dump.
