i picked up my car (90 gt) right at the end of the summer, so i haven't really driven it yet. however, whenever i fired the motor and let it sit for a few mins, there would be a nice puddle of coolant under the car. told a buddy of mine about it, and his automatic response was heater core. checked the heater core hoses, no leaks. also no leaks inside the car, and no defroster problems. last night i was looking at the firewall in the bay again, trying to figure out what this leak is coming from. i can see the leak, and it's almost directly under where the heater core hoses come through the firewall. but, the heater core hoses are near the top of the engine bay, while this other hole is way down near the bottom. i'll see if i can get a pic in a little bit, but offhand does anybody know what the hell i'm talking about or how to fix it? thanks, and sorry for the long post.

its probably a bad hose or something like that. Where you think the leak is comming from, go ahead and pull the hose and inspect if for hole, cracks, ect. Make sure all clamps are on securely. If its an external coolant leak it is most likely a hose.

that's the crappy part... there is no hose... it's just an opening in the firewall where it looks like a hose might have been. unfortunately i have no idea what it was/is, so i'm not too sure what i need to replace. it's almost at the very bottom of the firewall, pretty much directly under where the heater core tubes connect.

my heater core leaked out that hole for 1 month before it blew. thats where it drains when it leaks so it doesnt go on your interior.unless it leaks really bad....

right before mine blew it started to leak out of that hole so bad it would drop coolant on the passenger side header out of that hole in the fire wall.looked like the car was on fire when i would shut it off after a short trip.pretty embarasing at the gas pumps.ha ha ..

yup def heater core. I'm on my second one, and everytime it came outa that hole. It shoudl be right under the hoses. Have fun replacing it, it'll take about 8 hours or so, plus you'll have to get your a/c recharged since you need to disconnect it to get the core out. It sux bigtime. Make sure when you do replace it though, dab the filter (looks like a foam sponge) with paper towls till it's as dry as possible. otherwise you'll be smellen anti freeze for a while, as well as drive yourself insane wondering if it's busted again.
