Coolant light will not go away.

It started coming on when I had a slow leak from the plastic crossover. I since replaced the manifold with the updated alluminum crossover. The light went away, I filled it the car up, waiting for the therm. to open, then filled it some more. I went for a drive and the light came on again, I got home, popped the hood and the bucket is full. Could it be the sensor?

Is the coolant semi clean? My light came on but it turned off as soon as I flushed the coolant. It could also be a faulty sensor.

For what?

I used a new therm. housing gasket, intake manifold gasket and TB came with a new gasket.

with the new intake manifolds with the alu. crossover if there are little orange or blue rings on the bottom then u dont use gaskets. I replaced mine 3 times b4 i found this out. u could b leaking anywhere iif you used a gasket. u still use one on the thermostat and mine didnt come with a throttle body gasket but just a spacer. the rings are built in gaskets

Look inside the resivoir and see if the float is stuck down at the bottom. Most of the time you either have too much water and not enough coolant so it sinks, or there is some slime built up on the shaft, take and slide it up and down a few times to see if you can clean it off. Most of the time there is no need to buy a new sensor.

Damn, I didnt even look either. I bought the Ford manifold from Summit. I sure hope it didnt have those gaskets, especially since I spent $60 at Ford on gaskets. It would be leaking into the valley of the block right?

This is a good point. I noticed while I was filling up yesterday, that it would go up and sometimes it would stay down.

So I have confirmed that it is the float in the reservoir. Do I have to buy an entire reservoir? It will not stay afloat. If I pull it up to the top, the light goes away.

What is your mixture. If it isn't 50/50 it will not float. I run 75/25 in the summer and just ignore the light. You can get the little dropper looking testers to make the mixture is correct. The float won't just lose it's boyancy. It's either the mixture or build up on the shaft or float. If it is the later, you can try cleaning it with a tooth brush.

I sure hope this is not the case. The TB gasket was built in to the manifold, but I did not even check the bottom of the manifold. That would really suck, especially since I dropped down $60 for new gaskets at the dealer. Do you know if all the Ford manifolds come with them?

Mine does the same annoying thing. But it's because I run 75/25 mix, mostly water during the summer. The float is at the bottom, horrible design, not much I can do about it besides cleaning it to help it float easier.

I do have mostly water in there now. When I flushed it, I think the radiator was full of water, cause it didnt take much coolant.
