Coolant temperature sensor wtf?

Pretty simple....whats the difference between these two part numbers at 50resto?
1) DY681 $33.95
2) LRS-12648A $18.95

They will both work for my car and have the exact same description. Whats up?

One is probably OEM and the other is aftermarket. That is all I can think of.

i'd get a CTS at some place like napa or a reliable auto parts store anyway, why pay for shipping and have to wait for something like that

Mine was i think 18 bucks too from O'reillys......it was the one that went in the heater core piping, maybe the other one is the one-wire temp sensor for the coolant gauge in the dash

I would just get it from the local store, dont have to wait for shipping or anything

You're corrct, the more expensive one is a motorcraft the other is a no name brand.
