I was headed to work the other day, and my car hit almost 210 wile sitting at a light. Now granted, it was 105 outside, but I have a three core copper radiator (new), new water pump (since the motor only has 2K miles), 180 thermotstat, and a 3.8 electric fan. I found one of the ties that holds the fan on had lost it cap so it wasn't holding the fan tight to the rad, but when the fan is on, it sucks up to the rad. That wasn't it was it? The car has A/C, but it doesn't work, so it wasn't on. Any ideas?

Thanks,
L.D.

Lars - if it cools off quickly once you're moving again, then more than likely you're simply not moving enough air across the radiator at low speeds.

if you AC isnt working you could pull the condensor out and allow for more direct airflow to the radiator.

Yeah, once I got moving it cooled down real quick. I thought the 3.8 fan would be enough?

Maybe not? I would venture a guess that the heat production of a 3.8 at idle and a 5.0 at idle would not be the same. Hence the increase of temp on the 5.0.

Well, supposedly the 3.8 Tarus (this one came off a Lincoln) is supposed to keep a mild 5.0 cool. Maybe not?
