Cooling system upgrades?

sorry i dont have any experience with anything other than stock water pumps

what kind of radiator is this that you have? also is it still in good condition?

on a side note, i was having the same high temp issues as you. i was using the stock pump, underdrive pulleys, black tragic fan, and the stock radiator. from there all i did was replace my old stock radiator with an Afco aluminum and my temps are now in check. even in stop and go traffic. well these are my experiences, hope this helps.

oh and BTW this is on a 300-350 hp engine.

sounds like its cuz of the stroke... they present cooling issues if i recall dont they?

I have a 331 and can't get the temp past the 1/2 way mark - I run a Taurus fan, Griffen rad, Stewart Components water pump and a DC Controller - what do you use to control the fan?

I don't think that running at 210 is necessarily bad, assuming the motor is in good condition. The stock stat is about 195F, so your not far off from that.

What would concern me is that you are getting 30F over your stat temp. This could suggest that there is a deficiency in the system.

Still, does the temp jump up and then drop down fairly quickly at a predictable rate? If so this is fairly normal, when driving hard for short periods.

Something else to check (in addition to everything mentioned above) is the height of the radiator overflow. The overflow nipple should be the highest spot in the cooling system. Somtimes when radiators are replaced the rubber mounts on the bottom of the rad are tossed. This can cause problems.
