About how much does a shop charge to port a Cobra intake mfld. I'm trying to decide if I should shell out the $$$ for a new intake or get mine shaved. I pulled it off today to get to my heads(Putting on AFR 165), that Im gonna swap tomarrow, if they come in.

It depends on what you want ported. Porting the lower usually cost around $225. The upper cost about the same, but to hand port it the unit must be sectioned. The best thing to do with the upper is get it extrude honed for about $200.

Based on that, Ill probably look into just buying a new set. After paying $400+, I could have just spent $600 on a new intake and sell my Cobra intake on E-Bay for at least $200.....right? Thanks for answering my question. That pretty much helps me make my decision.

I would ask Tom - he is number one on my list of people I would have do port work for me. I have not seen his work personally but he ported a buddy's lower - beautiful work!

MM&FF did a test about 4 or so years ago on all the intakes, and then extrude honed the cobra upper and lower and the gt40 lower(they can only do lower gt40) and they made big numbers with the cobra extrude honed one... Big enought that i remember it from that long ago. Not too sure on the exact numbers but its nice ****. ITs like 629 for the upper and lower.

My brother has his twisted wedge heads extrude honed, they looked so pretty. so smoooth. go to http://www.extrudehone.com/ LOOK HOW PRETTY THEY MAKE STUFF LOOK.

EH is between $600-700 to do an intake - WAY too much. Just buy another intake before you do that!

You don't even need to have the upper done AT ALL for the AFR heads you have and the cost of porting the lower can be as low as $150 WITH shipping if you get the right person to do it.

Go to my website for LOTS of info on porting - link in signature.
