Coupe trunk torsion rods install

Not sure any of us have a coupe (anymore). Going from memory, it seems that they criss-cross, but I could definitely be wrong as I've not had a coupe in over 30 years. I looked in both my Chiltons and Haynes manuals and there's really no info in there other than "scribe the location" beforehand and "replacement is the reverse of these steps." There are no pics for reference and no mention of the torsion bars.

Another avenue you could explore is installing lift cylinders like the hatch has. That could actually simplify it all for you. A couple of us have installed them for our hoods, it's pretty simple to do. You could probably reference my thread for different pieces from Amazon, or @78 Mach1 has a more recent thread calling out the pieces he used.

This shows the arrangement of the 44890 torsion springs. 45028 is the anti rattle pad that goes between them.
