1. A 'friend' of mine told me that Ford had put out 2 sets of Mustangs in 95. That the difference was in the intakes, I hadn't heard of this before. Is this true, and if it is, is one better than the other?

2. Another guy ported a cobra intake. Is there any harm done when an intake is ported to it's max. This is what he said:
" this intake has not been wallowed out..anyone can get a grinding stone or cutting bit and go to town...there are some things you just dont do to an intake when porting it..the first thing we decided was the gasket size to be matched, then we decided basically what i was looking for in the intake..how much will i need to breathe..and from there we come up with a fully ported and polished lower intake and an upper intake that was ported as far as could be reached without cutting it in half to do the rest which is pretty costly...your question though...totally understandable..before i started working at Reeves Performance..i was asking the same questions.."

So would this be too much air for a stock h/c car?
 
to answer #1... yes there were two intakes, the stock GT one and the cobra intake... that's it.

To answer #2... yes, and intake ca be ported too much for a stock motor if its opened up too much to kill velocity, but it would have to be hogged out pretty bad.
 
Sort of, if its opened up to a 1262 gasket... that's on the large side. TMOSS can help you more here than I can. Look at the #1 and #5 intake runner on the lower... are they welded and then ported? They should be if this intake is "hogged out". This is done to get rid of the dog leg inherent in the design on that GT40 lower to clear the distributor.
 
I don't match my ports to any gasket. I port lower intakes in consideration of the heads the intake will go on. There is absolutely NO reason to open up a runner more than need be just to match a gasket size. My puny little 1.05x1.90" runners flowed 195 cfm average without a clay radius on the inlet becasue I removed material in the right places. If you look at dynos of my lower intakes (stock, Cobra, Performer) on combos that were well designed, you will find some very high and wide torque curves. Air flow is efficient over a wide rpm band. The idea is to remove only what is necessary and only in the right places. You can hog them out and still get good performance gains but it's not what I do.
