Just got to scan over this thread. Nice job for first timers like he said. Been close to 2 months since last post you got pics of it painted yet? Sounds like the hood flying off opened a can of worms an the car is gonna come out a bit nicer than it was before . Thats my positive way of thinking "ahhhhh the hood came off at 60..... owell needs body work an paint neway" Ive always tryed to look on the brighter side of things.

It's just about ready. All the body work is done except the drivers door, we can't seem to get it right. We are looking for one now that is more straight. Other than that, weatherstripping, and bumper covers, it's about ready. We even ran all wires and crap on the fenderwells to the outside of the inner fenders, and have the engine bay painted.

We were planning on releasing all the body work and paint pics at once.

Yeah the hood flying up is a good motivator to do bodywork!

Nice job on the cowl...wanna do mine? The same thing happened to mine(hood flew up and f'ed it up). I'll pay you with whatever beer you want. I don't know how to weld and I don't have the patience to do body work like that.

I completely understand. I hate REAL body work. I do the simple stuff...I can bolt on a hood like nobody's business.

You should do like I did and help a friend on his car, that way when I do mine I might know what I'm doing. lol

Thats what I normally do but when it comes to body work I pretty much stay away. But now that I have to do body work to my car I kinda pay attention a lil more.

Can someone explain what was actually done? I see a big piece of metal was taken out, but it looks like a grate/grill has been put on over it???

Is this for venting air? Looks? I don't see a difference...

its the piece that is between the fenders and is against the windshield. This piece is welded at the pinch weld on the firewall. His hood flew up and smashed the cowl panel. This is common if your hood latch fails or of you have a fiberglass hood thats not latched all the way.

Oh, okay, so basically what this is is a repair/improvement at the same time???
