I installed my intake and then started the engine and smoke started coming out, so I noticed that I forgot to plug a hole on the intake. I went out to the hardware store and grabbed a bolt that I thought was the right size, turns out it dropped right through the lower intake into the engine. It dropped into the passenger side port on the head all the way towards the windshield. I've tried fishing it out many ways and can't seem to get the damn thing out... Does anyone have any ideas? Can I leave it in there? [I doubt it.]

What do I do?

If you can't get something down there to grab it, hopefully you'll only need to pull the lower intake back off. If it got down into the port on the head and past the valve (very unlikely), you'll have to pull the head. See if you can get one of extendable magnets that looks like the antenna on a stereo to grab it. Most hardware stores have them for pretty cheap.

Ditto! Unless its very small, or you have a MONSTER cam, I doubt that it made it past the valve. If you pull the lower off you should be able to get to it.

I tried the magnet thing a bunch of times.. I currently have the intake off..

I poured water down a set of e7te heads i have sitting in the garage [down the same port] and it doesn't go to the valves.

I take it that you can't see where it went?

If you have the lower off can you feel it with your finger? I would think that maybe some duct tape on your finger or something like that may work? Maybe some putty (play doh, etc) on a stick...

You gotta get that out of there before you start the engine.

Oh Yeah... DON"T even turn the engine by hand... this could bend the valve if it gets that far...

It didn't fall down an intake or exhaust port though.

There's no opening in the lower intake that you could plug with a bolt that would go to a water (coolant) passage.... I'm not sure what to tell ya about that. Can you post a pic of the location in the lower where you dropped the bolt in?

So I take it that the bolt fell into the waterjacket in the head? Have you tried vacuuming it out with a shop vac?

Yes to the waterjacket, no to the shopvac.

I would try the shopvac, the 5 hp. one I have works pretty good and would vacuum up a bolt pretty easily.

On Frpp cobra intakes there is a fitting where you can plug in a temp sending unit. Its by cylinder #7.

Try getting a real strong magnete. wrap a coat hanger around it with some tape. Thats really the only thing I can think of. You gotta keep on tying. The same thing happened to me. I didn't notice that hole and when i tried to plug it it fell in the intake right down to the water jacket. It took me 30 mins with a super strong magnete and a coat hanger. Good luck

How were you "plugging" a water jacket hole with a bolt? It's a god damn pipe thread hole . Can you get a picture of this I gotta see...
