Well pending the proper startup and decent running condition of my bonneville, i'll be ripping into my car today after school to get the PI cam and manifold swap started. I think that there is still some slight confusion in this area as far as using PI/NPI gaskets, what parts are needed, cam types, etc. Hopefully i'll get a buttload of pictures and a decent explanation and writeup/howto can be created from them. Wish me luck, because I have extremely ****ty luck when it comes to stuff like this!

Well here is where the car stands right now...I already miss it :(
Notice the one broken/snapped manifold bolt...piece of $h!t

If you want to see any other pictures i've taken so far just replace the cam***.jpg with any # between 000 and 016.

Here is a quickly thrown together slideshow too...i'll update it when I get more pictures added being as we took most of the pictures of the actual install with another guys camera.

Tonight around 6ish we'll hopefully be doing the actual swapping of the cams. Alls I need is to get a bolt that snapped in half on the thermostat housing removed...ive been soaking it in penetrating oil the past 2 days now and we've also taken a torch to it and it still wont come out so its being quite the little PITA. Then I need new valve cover gaskets being as the old ones kinda got mauled in the removal off the covers. Hopefully the actual cam swap goes well, thats the part im dreading the most and want done and out of the way.

Another thing I noticed is the NPI manifold gaskets seem to fit fine on the PI manifold. Obviously they fit the heads perfectly but when we laid them down on the manifold itself there didn't seem to really be much RTV that was going to be needed. There will be some spots but otherwise I don't see why everyone says DONT USE NPI USE PI gaskets...maybe i'll figure it out when we reassemble everything and find a huge coolant leak. Lets hope not.

Something I need answered too ASAP: What torque value is the cam gear bolt supposed to be torqued down to? Just tight as hell or is there an actual ft/lb or in/lb value?
