I just picked up a complete 351 HO (?) out of a '88 crown vic in real good shape. I know that it's not a roller block and was rated at 170 HP or so. My question is, If I put a nice carb, intake , heads, longtubes and cam on the stock short block, what kinda Hp + TQ numbers would I be look at ?

I've already replace the bearings and pulled compression on every cyl, around 130 psi in every one, so I'm happy with that.

You have to be more specific for us to guess a HP.

-A nice bulit Holley 750 DP
-Box stock TFS heads, 1.7 RR
-A cam somewhere around 280-290....and around .530 on the intake and .540 or so exhaust
- Hooker longtubes

I'm just looking for a nice street setup. I don't want to do a whole rebuild, just something I can put together and have some fun with

It will respond very well to those mods. I dont see why you can get 350-425 hp out of that thing with well matched parts.

With a cast crank for safety, dont plan to spin the blazes out of the motor. Plan to make peak hp around 5800-6200.

It probably has cast pistons, so no spray, but some decent compression, a nice cam and the heads and intake that you mentioned, it will still rock.

You just named the cam in my car. 285 gross duration, 540 lift on the intake and exhast. It is a lunati flat hydraulic grind. It is a wild one! A flat cam with a lot of lift also has a lot of lope.

Check out my sig for my times and the video!

Only way to be sure is to check. Takes 5 minutes with some clay.

I have dart seniors with the cam I mentioned. I dont have any PV issues and my heads are shaved for compression, but I checked before I put the heads back on.

Dont forget to watch your compression. Try to get it up to about 9.5 or so. ESP if you plan to run a big flat cam!

Are you sure it's a 351, I don't think regular production Crown vic's had the 351, but a few cop cars might have it.

By the way, I had an '88 Grand Marquis which is almost the same thing.

Only the 93-97 F-250s trucks had a roller motor along with the Lightning

Yeah I'm sure its a 351, the car was a cop car

The 351 cop cars were not sold to the general public

crown vic dude.that is way to wild of a cam for that application. My 460 has a 249/250 duration on 10 half compression. It makes 700hp at 6500 r's. You need to do more research on that motor nowledge is power.
