Gentlemen:

I'm new to the forum but I've spent a great deal of time reading posts. I know what I want to do performance wise to my '08 GT coupe. However, I truly enjoy powerful audio systems as well. I don't see much in the way of audio - unless I missed something.

I'm interested in what folks have done in the way of custom audio work. I'm considering building custom fiberglass panels to replace the thigh level door speakers up front to mount component speakers and possibly mounting another set of components in the door and the associated tweeters in the dash (sunk to appear as stock parts).

Are there any audio enthusiasts out there who've created rolling concert halls in their Mustangs? If you have I'd love to see some pics.

I can't believe you all live with the stock Shaker systems... I really like the sound of my Mustang and I haven't even begun to modify it, but someone has to like to slam gears to really good tunes. Someone has to have put in some really nice audio systems.

I'm an audio snob and have a pretty high end surround system at home. I am however totally satisfied with my Shaker 500. I'm still surprised what little nuances come thru my Shaker and it still has wow! factor as far as I'm concerned. It would be interesting to see what info others have to offer though. Oh, and welcome aboard. :SNSign:

I will say that upgrading my head unit to a nice Pioneer unit definitely resulted in better results. I used to run around with multiple subs, aftermarket speakers, etc... but this is the best sounding stock radio I've ever owned. I wouldn't mind a 10" sub, but it's not necessary.

I had a shaker 1000, pulled it out and installed a jvc kw-avx800. I also yanked the factory 6x8 door and rear speakers and installed kenwoods. i kept my original sub box in the trunk but swapped the factory 10s out for a set of memphis audios. im running a 2 channel punch amp for the subs and a 4 channel on the door and rear deck speakers. i left the factory 8" subs in the doors. sounds great to me and is all i need as the days of "trunk rattling" is behind me

what are the settings that you're using?

example: do you use the 'DRIVERS SEAT' mode?

For C&W I use compress off, bass+2, treble flat or -1, all seats, speedvol 5

Dance/electronics I use bass-2, treble either flat or -1, all seats, speedvol 5

Classical or Pop I really haven't experimented.

compress off, all seats and speedvol is always kept constant.

To my taste, if the treble is set too high, it is piercing to the eardrums.

I used to install for a custom shop in my college days to fund my school expenses. Up until the mustang all of my cars/suvs had large systems I fabbed in. With this car I really don't have any interest. I have had the car for 2 years now and I have turned the radio on all of about 2 times. I don't even have the antenna on the car anymore..

This all may change at some point, but I'm not so sure as of now. I like the car for the power and exterior asthetics. Currently that's enough satisfaction.

well, i cant speak for everyone, but most of us sink so much into performance mods that if we have an extra 500 bucks to put in our stangs. . its usually nitrous, pulleys, or exhaust, that kinda stuff. as for me i wouldn't mind a head unit that has siruis or XM with a nav. that would be cool, but as far as i'm concerned this is the greatest music ever created!:

Thanks, gentlemen. Unfortunately, powerful audio is an accessory to my right foot. Music appropriately matched to the sing-song of a powerful V8 are flip sides of the same coin.

I'm going to fab up fiberglass component speaker housings for the door panels (in place of the pizza pans presently there), squeeze a component set in the package shelf and stuff a single sub in the trunk and drive the setup with a pair of amps. Not too much, so as to weigh the car down. I figure something along the lines of what I had in my Acura.
