Custom Grills?

So I am trying to make some custom grills to fit into the hoop scoop of my 67 mustang. I already have billet grills in the lower valence. So ideally I'd like to match this, the grill is 1/8" bars with 3/8" spacing.

Anyone have any idea where to get a grill custom made or at least some bulk material that I could cut to fit? The main problem that I see with cutting is that I would have to weld support beams in the back of the grill which doesn't exactly thrill me to weld aluminum.

The two grills that I need to make (or have made) are approximately 4" x 11".

Thanks in advance for the suggestions/ideas.

Buy one grille for the valance or the standard location (whichever is cheaper) and cut the pieces that you need for the 2 locations from it.

Stack them as they are going to be located in the hole and drill a hole (1/8-3/16") down through them.

Then either get some 3/8" or so aluminum round stock and drill a (1/8-3/16") hole down through the center (or find/buy a piece of 1/8" i.d. aluminum pipe).

Cut the round stock or pipe into 3/8" long pieces paint them black and put one inbetween each of the pieces of the grille.

Run a bolt (stainless allthread) through the holes in the Grille and the spacers and it should resemble the grilles you have in the other locations.

I'm assuming that you have a drillpress and a bandsaw or chopsaw or lathe, cause you mentioned welding aluminum (if not have a machineshop drill and cut the aluminum stock.

Just a idea, hope this helps.
