Custom Intake Plate

Hey guys,
I'm at it again trying to design some custom parts. I pulled my intake plate to clean and polish it so while I had it off I took my digital calipers and measured everything. I messed around with some design ideas and created some CAD files and a 3D model. I've been doing some freelance design work for a guy designing some custom motorcyle accessories. He has the fabricating setup and said he would hook me up with a plate. Here is a 3D rendering of my first design idea. I'm looking for some feedback or ideas.
There doesn't seem to be anyone out there selling custom intake plates. May be a market. Let me know what you guys think.

How would that design be put on the plate? Printed? Machined? EDM? Laser? There are features on the current design that would be hard to get using conventional machining.

Just this week I had been thinking about making a small batch of machined plates myself.

It would be machined and then painted and polished.

EDM would be the only way i can see them getting some of the corners but with a few changes you could machine them pretty easy.

and hell printing would work also if you have access to that machine. we have one here but dont do much metal printing

I think mustang in the correct font would be bad ass instead of fox body but thats a clean looking plate!

Agreed getting the sharp corners would be impossible on a mill but even having small fillets on the corners wouldnt be bad. Would still be hard having to use a very small endmill they break easy. good lookin though.

wow thats nice! great work brotha! btw there is a guy on corral that will do custom ones he doesnt advertise and ive only seen a couple he did im more impressed with what you did.

I'm not that familiar with the machining process but the guy with the equipment told me no problem.
I've seen some of the other things he's done and they are far more detailed than this.
We'll see I guess.

im sure hes just going to mill out the corners with a small end mill but you'll have a radius in those sharp corners in the end. so he'll have a lot of time in the corners. adding a slight radius will speed up the machine time and the work for him

Thats what i was sayin cant make a square corner with a round tool. I was always tempted to make my own intake plate being a machine shop supervisor i get to play with things like that but on my new stang it has a Cobra intake with the silly sticker on plate.

i have my stock plate hanging on my wall right next to me. ive thought about modeling something up for it one day jyst never had the time. that and im not sure what id do different from the explorer plate

Thanks for the input guys.
The guy I'm working with is going to make me one of each style to start.
The stock plate is .190 thick and I'm going to have mine made out of .250 thick aluminum plate.
He ordered the materials yesterday so hopefully I can have something in hand right after the holidays.
He's going out of town for Christmas. Once I get a couple done I'll post some pics of the final product.

First prototype milled out of wood today. Fits perfect.
Will be moving on the the real deal in the next week or so.
Looking for ideas for other custom Fox parts as well.

That looks awesome. If you made one with LX font where the 5.0 is, I would buy two, lol. I think you are onto something. Make a couple of styles and they'll sell.

It's too bad the Exploder and the stock HO intake are the only intakes that use the plate. I always liked the way it looked.
