Hey Guys.
I’ve been thinking about fabricating and selling some custom parts. Specifically Fox Mustang stuff since I have one and can use it for measurements and fitment. Right now I have a gauge/radio mounting panel I designed for mounting 2 – 2” gauges in my car. The finished picture is attached. I found a local machine shop to make these plates for me out of 1/8”thk aluminum and with a gloss black powder coat finish. I can sell them for around $25-$30 each. LMR sells a similar one with 3 gauge cut outs for $40. I have some other design ideas as well but was wondering what you guys think. Is this something, you as a fox owner would be interested in? I’ve always wanted to do something like this but I don’t want to waste my time either.
Any feedback welcome.

That's the kind of feedback I'm looking for. Looks like it would probably be more trouble than it's worth. thanks

It's a great idea, but would be very difficult to compete against the aftermarket.

If you went a little more custom, something that they don't offer, it's more likely people would buy. New interior work I always appreciate, versus the same 6 'custom' mods offered for gauge inputs and a/c deletes and so forth.

Thanks for all the input. I'll keep thinking about it and see what other ideas I can come up with.
I'm not trying to get rich or anything. I just enjoy messing with these old cars.

Also... anodized internal wrenching bolts have a more finished appearance than button heads.

Those do look nice. I just reused the stock ones to install mine.

The problem you run into is that most of those really nice looking bolts and screws only come in a fine thread pitch where as the stock screws are a course thread pitch. Then you take a chance on stripping something out by cross threading it.

I want somebody to make a nice once piece radio bezel/shifter console that flow into each other.

Another idea... Center console with 2 cup holders in place of the ash tray. I'm making one for my car, but someone that could make a bunch of them would probably make a killing.

You've probably already got one rolling around among the marbles in your head. You better make me one for an 86 too!

I would be content making my own design.. then seeking them around town.. nothing like a local supplier... I did that for my radio plate!

What did you do with your radio plate? I'm still tossing around ideas for mine.

Whoops, I meant selling, not seeking..... damn autocorrect.... anyway, I made a plate based off the autometer gauge cage that's in the center ac, and mounted my stereo up there....very easy access
