all the pics below are with the sportlines. car didnt look near as 'gappy' in the front with stock wheels/tires (245/45/17). with the new wheels/tires (265/35/18 fronts), i wouldnt think the tire size is the thing to blame....is it?

cut the current eibach sportlines (front only) or swap them in for the H&R SS springs ($235 shipped is cheapest i can find) ? i just dont think deleting the isolators will give the desired drop.

The isolators do more than you think. I would remove the front iso's FIRST and see how it sits. If it still isn't low enough then I'd cut the front springs.

I sure as hell wouldn't shell out $240 for another set of springs.

im still considering that. just alot trouble for trial and error, course cutting the springs would make me a nervous wreck. like you mentioned, hate to spend $240 on other springs too..especially if they didnt satisfy me.

ive done a lot searching and forum reading. some guys just report a 1/4" drop. others claim 1/2" .

To be honest with you, it looks like you got Pro-Kit springs now that I really look at the stance. My buddy has the same issue with the front sitting a little higher than the rear and he has Pro-Kit's. If I was you, I would take all the iso's out and see what it looks like. It WILL make a noticeable difference, trust me I've done it on both my cars. On my old '95 I had only the top iso in, and in the rear I only had the bottom iso in, and it was pretty slammed (Sportlines). Now I have the stock springs cut one coil all around in the Bullitt, and I had originally installed them with no iso's in front, but it was WAY too low, and it didn't ride very well. I reinstalled all the iso's and it brought the front back u about a 1/2" maybe more.

It's not that hard to take the iso's out, shouldn't take more than 2 hours, and its a lot cheaper than new springs.

those sportlines arent cut, and theres no isos top or bottom. but my cars kinda weird, the driver side sits about 1/2 inch lower than the passanger side.... so idk if my cars crooked or my sportlines are just messed up, never measured the stock height, so it might have already been like that. but thats only the front, the back is off by about an 1/8 of an inch.

my passanger side sits a little bit higher

^ any squeaks with no isolators? rattles? harsher ride?

cleaning my fenderwells and adding some tirewet wont help the ride height but i think it will improve the aesthetics. if everything was blacked out it would help conceal the gap a little.

Sounds like your pass side isn't all the way in the pocket of the a arm. I have sportlines with iso in my car. I don't think if I pulled mine out it would sit that low. The only time it did was when I had trimmed eibach drag springs.

Here is my car with sportlines, isos, and non cut.

nah i have rechecked it, at first i was like WTF! lol but now i just kinda got use to the way it sits, i think its my car because i kinda had a hard time getting the shock to go though the cc plate on the driver side when the passanger side just went right through easily

Damn, If I new that I woulda not installed the isos when I installed my sportlines this morning! LOL!

There's always NEXT weekend ;) Looks good man!

thanks man, make sure you put take or something on the spring, i wrapped mine in electric tape. its been about 5 or 6 months and no squeeking yet lol.

my guess would be half a coil would be around 1 inch, but at the bottom the spring is more flat so it might not even take that much off at first. what ever you do dont cut the top of the spring lol. if i were you i would try pulling the isolators first, then if its still not low enough then cut the springs.

I would put higher profile tires on the car versus cutting the springs. I think the profile of the tire doesn't work for the look you're looking for.

thats still a consideration but man, i looked at countless mustangs (even several in person) with the exact same setup was mine - shocks, struts, wheels, tire sizes, etc . the 265/35/18 seems to be one of the most popular sizes for a 18x9 wheel on a lowered mustang. next in line were 275/35s but they were only 3/10ths taller in overal diameter, which really shouldnt make any visual difference (or very very little). im afraid if i change out to a 255/40/18 (26" overal dia), it will just raise the car up a bit in the front and wont really close the fender gap much

guess its always better to cut off less than you think. adding material would be difficult.

maybe not even 1/2 a coil...
