Dad wanting to drop from 4.11's to 3.55... whats needed

Like the title says. My dad has a 66 Fastback.. mods in sig. The 4 speed is killer with the 4.11's. It wears me out to drive it around. Speedo doesn't work but it seems like i go to 4th gear at 40 mph. So it really kills the driveability. this car is not a track car. Its a cruiser that happens to have some balls. It would definately top out in no time at the 1/4 mile. So if he would let me take it to the track the 3.55 would definately benefit.

ANYWAY- Do I look for a whole posi rear end with a 3.55 in it? Whats the best/cheapest/effective route? Or do I take his rear end and have a 3.55 put in it? Is this all their is for the gear swap or rear end swap? Anything we might run into?

ring and pinion only. Gears are the same between traction loc and open rears. Pretty much just an r/r procedure but you will need to resetup the lash and mesh pattern.

Another cost effective, time effective way is to find a 9" chunk with 3.50 gears. The 8" had 3.55's. Should be able to find one already set up and R&R is quick then.
