I left to go back to college to pick up round 2 of stuff with dad's trailblazer, and I tell my mom to put my windows up in the stang. I get a call about 20 minutes later that they won't go up. Stupid driver's side window won't roll up. Passenger side does and fuse is fine. You can hear it "click" so it's not the switch. The irony of the matter is, my cougar's window motor just went out on the driver's side as well.
I took it apart and found that the big plastic gear that rides on the worm gear has a smaller metal gear attached to it. That was still there, but a triangular plastic insert that is set into the larger plastic gear was shattered to pieces. This was allowing the small metal gear (that moves the window up and down) to spin freely, sometimes catching and clicking.
it's fine now
