I left to go back to college to pick up round 2 of stuff with dad's trailblazer, and I tell my mom to put my windows up in the stang. I get a call about 20 minutes later that they won't go up. Stupid driver's side window won't roll up. Passenger side does and fuse is fine. You can hear it "click" so it's not the switch. The irony of the matter is, my cougar's window motor just went out on the driver's side as well.

I dunno if the Mustang is the same as my t-bird, but I'll bet the Cougar is. I had the motor gear go out on the driver's side a few weeks ago. Ford only sells the complete motor assembly, not just the gear for that year. I took it apart and found that the big plastic gear that rides on the worm gear has a smaller metal gear attached to it. That was still there, but a triangular plastic insert that is set into the larger plastic gear was shattered to pieces. This was allowing the small metal gear (that moves the window up and down) to spin freely, sometimes catching and clicking.

I took out the gear and removed the plastic chunks, mixed up a batch of JB Weld, and filled the triangular slot w/ the epoxy. The metal gear had a trangular-shaped shaft, so it won't spin even if the adhesion breaks. Put it back together, good as new!

Turns out the stang works now? I was starting to get cold and I just kept hitting the up button constantly and it caught my arm :) Scared me.

The cougar's motor is fully intact along with all of the gears. I took it apart and attempted to spin the motor but the motor just won't spin. I'm guessing it has something to do with the armatures and brushes of the motor. The brushes looked like they need to be replaced if anything.

same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I went to put up my driver side window and it wouldn't go up. I ended up playing with the wires that you can get to when you open the door. All of a sudden it started working and it hasn't happened since.
