I'm wondering if my clutch will ever act normal again...
Several weeks ago, I ran into an LS1. It had temperary 30 day tags on it, so I was hoping the guy didn't know how to drive it yet. :p We were stopped and I partly let the clutch out so it'd engage very quickly and brought the revs to 3500ish, just like I do at the track. Unfortunately, the light didn't turn when we thought it would, so I was just sitting heating up the clutch. Finally, it turned and I let the clutch out. Of course, the clutch was hot by then... it didn't grab well and slipped to 4500 where it grabbed. At 5k, I grabbed 2nd and it was slipping badly again before grabbing. Of course, the clutch was NOT happy after that. It was soft and a babied it around for a while until it cooled off (could smell burning clutch strongly).
These days, in normal driving it feels fine and grabs properly. Even if I power shift, it grabs and spins the tires into 2nd like always. However, if I do a high rpm launch and then try to power shift 2nd, it slips.
Sound like I overheat the clutch and ruined it, or simply need a firewall adjuster? The petal feel often changes, and I can tell the factory adjuster is jumping between 2 adjustment points... but pulling up on the pedal doesn't cause it to go to the tighter adjustment. I'd be sad if I can't race the car hard again without replacing the clutch.

You need a clutch kit bro. A firewall adjuster is just a "band-aid over a bullet wound" You don't need all of those tricks if you have a good clutch, pp, t/o bearing, and your stock quadrandt is in good shape.

A failing clutch will slip more when hot. If it slips only when hot, it's bad. Just get a replacement and install it. You don't wanna get stranded on the side of the road.
