Well, at least some of them came back.

Friends been snooping all over this town of 150k looking under hoods for my parts. Today at 4pm I got the call 'Hey dude, I just saw your headers' and off I went. There they were, BBK shorties with the stud welded on #6 primary for the dipstick to bolt to. Guy bought them off of a chevy guy named Rick who got them in a package deal with a bunch of other junk for $600. Told Rick they were hot and his eyes rolled back in his head as he mouthed a silent 'O *****'. Asked how I knew, I described the extra stud and the condition of the parts. He asked what else was missing. Told him about the 3" polished magnaflows with the tubing and dents in the ends of the mufflers, he had them, but was supposed to sell them. Told him about the roller rockers, he had them too. He didn't have the blower, but had heard about it.

More to come

Dude that sucks. I too have had many things jacked off of and out of my ride so I feel your pain. That is too bad. You need to find the guy who did it and cut off his hands. That'd learn him. Not to change the thread, but what kind of times would you run without your paxton? Just curious.

:notnice: to the wankers who jacked your stuff.
:nice: When you cut off his hands :D

Damn puter...

Anyway, asked him where he got the parts from. Said a guy named Ron Tabler who just happened to be locked up for going through cars at a local bar and wanted on about a dozen unrelated charges. He had gotten the parts from Ron's old lady so she could buy groceries, etc for $600 (bunch of chevy stuff too)

He called her up about the blower and aranged to go get it and bring it for me to inspect. She said Ron had taken it up to the spring Carlisle swap meet, but didn't sell it because it didn't have the brackets. He did sell the bucket of pulleys and air filters, etc. Turns out my gauges and one set of rockers were sold up there too.

Rick brought the blower to me and we ended up calling her up and explaining that it was stolen. She'd already gotten another boyfriend so she wasn't worried about Ron getting busted, even agreed to talk to the cops about it.

I left Rick keep the mufflers (which I didn't know what I was going to do with anyway), but he gave me the rockers back and was really appolegetic about it, and pretty pissed himself. While we were at his garage getting the rockers I asked him if he had any green spraypainted tools or knew if Ron had had any. Explained the olive drab color and that I had a socket that I found in the Capri after cutting it up for parts after finding where someone had been in the car trying to steal the seats. He shook his head as he walked over and opened the tool chest of Ron's that he had gotten out of pawn. In it were a bunch of green painted tools. Explains that Ron had been in my car way back in Febuary during the freeze. He's the reason I ended up cutting the car up before someone stole everything out of it.

Called the dops back, about a waste. Need to contact the criminal investigation division to prosecute it further.

Gotta get a picture of this guy for target practice.

PS, the blower is back in my locked garage along with the rockers. Out of $1800 that the homeowners insurance wouldn't cover I lost about $400 in parts

Funny thing is once the story hit the paper the boy down the street named Freddie that used to be a known theif stopped up and said he had seen this Ron guy drive up and down the alley slowly like he was scoping something out right before my stuff got hit and was worried about his stuff. Descibed a primer grey chevy van with Jegs and Summit stickers on the back and I remembered seeing it several times too. I think he knew the girls boyfriend from across the alley a house down on the other side. Gonna have to ask him about that.

Ricks pretty legit, I asked my Chevy friends that know him and they said he's pretty honest. He trades parts and cars to build his car, a '78 or so malibu that's running low 11's on the motor. He's known Ron for about three years and doesn't want to know him now.

Funny thing is it was my friends that found the parts. Less than ten people have been in my garage since it's been built. I know of most of the theives around town so I can keep them at arms length. Car guys around here run in small circles and I try to keep an ear in all of them, either through friends or myself while running around.

Another wild thing is Ron's old lady sold all the remaining car parts and a 70 something Nova to Rick for $600. The headers were there and they weren't going to take them because they were Ford parts, but ended up grabbing them for their friend with the '82 GT who my friend knew was looking for headers. He saw them and called me. See how a little detective work and some luck unravels the whole dang thing.

For a parts list and where the stuff went;

$1000 Paxton SN92 rebuilt and polished, recovered
$170 Crane roller rockers 1.6 ratio 3/8" stud, recovered
$150 Magnaflow 3" stainless mufflers, traded to get the blower back
Freebie BBK 1515 headers, traded for the blower
$80 Autometer ultralite 2 1/16" gauges 0-100psi fuel, A/F, Sold at spring Carlisle
$15 Autometer 2 1/16" gauge cup, sold at spring Carlisle
$160 Harlon Sharp roller rockers, Sold at spring Carlisle
$200 Blower race pulleys, cone filters, FMU, fuel lines, Sold at spring Carlisle

Pretty much a bummer for the gauges and other parts, but I know who did it and I got help getting the blower back.

glad to hear you got some closure. i was in your new garage once. remember when you put my subframes on? i can't remember where in the heck your house is though.

your wife said that your friends car sounded different the last time she heard it. who is that? that wasn't the guy with your headers?

Smock, the guy could have said 'screw you', call the cops and you'll never find your stuff, or me again... This way I got the blower back and know who stole the parts out of my garage, plus I have another contact for parts. Rick lost money on buying the stolen parts too. Even though that's not my problem, I had to sweeten the pot to get the info. Sometimes you have to look at the big picture.

Found out that the Barry Grant carb that Rick asked me if I had lost it because Rob was trying to sell one came from my friends S-10 that was broken into back in february. Just a little more closure and it gives him something to look forward to.

Seams Mr Rob is going to have a very exciting short life after prison. Heard he got 18 months for stealing the hood and fenders off of the '70ish Chevelle last fall and the owner is going to kill him when he gets out just out of principle. I may even do him a favor by getting him locked up longer for stealing my stuff.

Axe, the wife was just being the wife... You know what happens when you assume something...

Glad you found the stuff. I hate thieves.

Yeah, the guy could have been a dick to you, I mean he bought the parts legit, so he got robbed too. That is one reason why I won't buy used parts unless I really know the source.
