I was browsing parts on eBay and noticed some oem dead pedals. I didn't realize fox Mustangs had them from the factory. My 89 LX never had one.

Did some searching here and I didn't really find any info on them. I am unable to get to my car right now and was wondering if the cars have the holes already or do you need to drill holes to install?

Nope. Drill, and then it's self tapping bolts.

There are small indentations already in the sheet metal where the holes need to be drilled,at least on my '86 there was.
Makes for an "almost" fool proof install.

Yup, i added one in my ‘88. The metal is there with two dents. Predrill, and use a self tapper.

I forget the breakdown on which cars got them. I think only manual cars did. So my car being a former AOD needed to add it. I use it all the time

Okay cool. Going to pick one up.

I have a 89 LX 5.0 Manual. I wonder if only GT Manuals got them?

I believe it was an option at some point because I used to own a one owner 90 lx hatch with all options and it had one. I've had a few since then all without out it. I've owned two GT's and both had it. My coupe doesn't have it but also had cloth interior so again I'm assuming it was an option

Glad there are existing dents. Wasn't to keen on playing figure out where the pedal goes.

Also need to adjust the position of the clutch pedal. Always felt it is way to close to the gas pedal.

I've got the 03-04 pedal set in my car. The cover does work on the fox dead pedal. Or just buy a complete one.

My 93 LX AOD car had one, and I bought it brand new. I actually have never seen a 93 that didn't have a dead pedal. I believe at some point they became standard in all mustangs.

It might be part of the “sport” interior that slowly became standard into the 90s.

Just noticed today that mine has a dead pedal...but I’m guessing it was installed by a previous owner. Need to get a closer up pic

I'm pretty sure all 87-93 GT's had it.

It's probably the LX models that were mixed and match. My guess the LX's with the tweed sport seats got it.

Out of curiosity I dug out the sales brochure for my car. There isn't a specific reference to the option. The only mention is on the GT features page. So in 89 it must be standard. LXs still a mystery to me.
