Help with my VIN Plate!

Hi everyone, I'm a new owner of a 66 Coupe. The previous owner removed the VIN plate from the engine bay and I have decoded it. But the way the numbers match don't make any sense. If someone could tell me if I am decoding it correctly, I would be grateful. I put the numbers into an online decoder and I got an axle ratio of 3.89:1. That option was only available on the Hi Po package. I have a 289 2V V8. The VIN plate is as follows:

%563

8 K14 6T07C118583

65A R 26

RM 4 SPEED

Is the number "8" my axle code?? My driver side door is apparently from another Mustang so that really doesn't help me much. Thanks again!

Thanks Realmongo, I didn't know what RM stood for. But yes, all the other info matches up with my results. I guess the "8" is still a mystery...

Maybe the RM is the reason your driver's side door is gone. I have seen other numbers in place of the 8 so it is not related to the axle.

So the "8" does not give me the axle code? It seems like a valid replacement to the door tag which is not correct. Do you happen to know where the axle ratio stamping is on the axle so I can find it? And what about the door with the RM?? You think someone took the door off because of it?

I saw another tag that had 19 where yours has the 8. Sounds like it is time to crawl under the car to ensure it is an 8" rear and to read the axle ratio off of the tag. You never know about those RM doors, not many were made.
