Degree Wheel To Set Timing

I don't have an official degree wheel but I have one of these printed out and taped to a disc the same size.

Can I use this to set my timing? Any tips from someone who did the same thing?

That should work as long as you have a good way to attach it to the crankshaft with out it shifting around or moving.

Are we talking about cam timing or timing that you read at the balancer?

You mean you don't use a degree wheel to set your ignition timing??
