Ok,

With all the threads I read, people are saying to Max out the Spark Advance with my Diablo unilt pinging starts.

Ok, now how are you hearing this pinging? Over my exhuast and road noise I can't hear much.

Also, when data logging, I noticed my Spark Adv will jump when I am not at WOT, when at WOT it stays around 20deg but just driving I see it jump up and down as high as 40+ to as low as 15.

Ideas?

When it comes to pinging, you'll know it when it happens. Some people describe it as a coffee can full of marbles...I think it sounds like a grrrrr'ing noise with spit in your mouth, ha ha.
As far as jumpy spark advance, I don't know..

Well I have maxed out the Spark Advance to 10% and I did not hear anything like explained. I always run 93, even with the high prices...blah.

Do you hear it when you are idle or when you are at WOT?

I thought the Spark Advance only changed the timing for WOT? am I wrong?

I am trying to find somewhere to get a Dyno tune for the car, but the only one near me in Raleigh, NC is Haywood Custom Speed shop and they are slammed busy.

I'm still amazed at the number of people who have not (or at least they don't think they have) heard engine ping...maybe not even their own ride, but maybe the car in the next lane, pulling from a stoplight...? Jeez, I must hear engine ping once a day...fortunately, not from either one of our GTs...!

I'll admit I am new to really learning about cars. I loved them as a kid, took my auto shop classes, etc. But I'll be the first to admit I am a rookie when it comes to knowing about cars.

I believe that I have heard pinging before in the old beaters next to me, but I have not had a mechanic or a wrench head point it out to me directly. This is why I am so curious / worried about messing with programming.

I am amazed at the difference in the SOTP when I programmed my car. I just don't want to me one of those ignorant people that don't want to learn about what they are doing.

yeah the spark advance is for WOT but the timing itself never stops adjusting itself while cruising...............and no you shouldnt hear pinging at idle either

ghost,

You say I should not hear pinging at idle, but would I hear it at WOT, and how can you tell/hear it at WOT. I really can't hear much at WOT with my exhaust. Have any Ideas on how to hear it at WOT?
