Car shut of while driving on hiway

Rotor new the cap had some corrosion on the tips but I cleaned it with wire brush electrical cleaner then put dabs of dialectical grease
I would replace it WITHOUT using any coating on the tips.... Or at least take it back off and clean it off with electrical cleaner.... Your not sealing a connection here your potentially blocking a spark jumping....

100%

Let's not forget that we're still troubleshooting so... All suspects will be shot with extreme prejudice until the culprit is found. O_o

no it does not test the pip, only the TFI.
Brother I got it in the mail is I know your supposed to connect the yellow to the #7 top one but it’s already lit

That is what it is supposed to do after you connect to the 9volt and you connect the plug into the TFI the light will turn green then when you connect the yellow to the #7 top one on the TFI the light will turn bright green meaning the TFI module is good. And if the light turns off the TFI is fried.

Question? My car shuts off while on. Then sometimes it does the crank no start. Should I also be checking the surge idle checklist?
You could be dealing with more than one problem. The checklist is designed in such a way to eliminate certain issues as you troubleshoot (mechanical vs ecu )
If you have good knowledge of what you done so far you might be able to zero in on where to start looking in the checklist...does that make sense?

if you mean 'running then dies' , start it up and wiggle the key a touch if it dies or stumbles like intermittent ignition then I be checking the starter switch under the dash at the electrical connection.

Was it die'n before the ignition swap?
Yes before and after. Starts stays on idle for a while maybe few min then shuts off. Janet had issues or done anything to it. Fist sign I had a problem I saw a battery symbol while I was driving. Had alternator & battery tested cleaned all grounds ran fine then Sunday last week it did a crank no start. Called tow truck while waiting I tried starting and it fired up drove on hiway and it shut off engine. All lights on still kicked on drive it fast home. Ever scince i start it idles a while & cuts off. Ran codes getting 85,10,18. Replaced new fp,fp regulator, fuel filter, replaced fuel relay, used mood light(blinks) tested tfi I actually swapped distbutor noid lighted both they blink tested both tfis, swapped coil plus tested 3 that I have 12v both sides of coil used test light neg side coil blinks when cranking. Replaced cap, rotor, ignition switch. 12 volts injector connetor, tps set at 1v , cleaned maf no maf code just wanted to test. I removed the pump shut off switch in truck and spliced wires together so no worries on that . Swapped ecu from my other car same thing.Swapped map sensor still did it. All vacuum lines look good I only see a little arching on spark plug #1 and on a wire #8 just a little . Car is due for spark plugs thou but not sure if that would cause crank no start. Now when it does do crank no start I need to test coil but I get caught off guard not expecting it. O the iac I bought few months ago new along with ecc relay and wot relay. Test light on 3rd wire on tfi connector lights up. Now I do have one other issue other then spark plug wires and plugs(waiting from lmr to ship) the fuel pump relay connector is messed up and the black pink wire is iinfa hacked as you can see. Ordered one from lmr to just waiting.Ive been outside trying anything that comes to mind past week

Holy :poo: you have been threw a :poo: load of parts, I'm a little afraid now.
I just got in from the garage( a leak from thermostat housing, turned out to be loose bypass hose clamp).
While a was warming it up to check for leak it just shut the fug off.
It would crank but no start, so I had this problem many years ago and got a coil then a tfi module.
I had a good coil and tfi in my parts bin,so I swapped coil and tried but no go,swapped tri and she started.
Within a minute she shut off. Crank no start......
This is my daily so I'm :poo:ting bricks now.

Omg at least I’m not alone! This is also my daily. Actually I replaced everything so the car was reliable engine trans ecu everything it now that my cars acting up I can’t drive it knowing I might need to get towed. Regulator was on warranty along with ignition switch , did buy fuel pump and filter spark plugs and wires so far. Everything else I have extra cuz I have another 5.0 .

Nicky, when you swapped tfi, are you using the "grease" when installing it? Thats odd it started then quit
