Did I get screwed by the dealer?

I oredered an 05 Gt vert on X-plan. I checked weekly with dealer about when it was to be delivered. 3 weeks ago it was number 9 of gts coming in. They were arriving at a rate of 4-5 per week. A freind of mine works at the Ford plant building the Mustang. He told me that the car was being built 2 weeks ago(checked the order number) and I should have it soon. Call up dealer today and they said that the car wasnt going to make it as an 05 and I would have to wait for the 06. I'm thinking that the dealer might have recieved the car and then sold it at MSRP or higher and never told me. What do you guys think?

They cant do it if they gave you a VIN #

Otherwise depends on what kind of deposit you left!! If you left a measely deposit then yeah they could have sold it!!

Did you sign the dealer agreement form?

If you did, and got a VIN, then the 'l' word may need to come into play. I sure as hell would be mad if they pulled a stunt like that on me.

Wouldn't be the first time this has happened with an '05. Greedy dealers suck!

Good point. Hopefully everyone doing an X-plan order should make sure that the dealer signs the agerement form.

With that signed form, the dealer is obligated to delivery the car to you (and you are obligated to accept it).

Beyond just the signed legal contract aspect, with the form signed, Ford itself will take action against the dealer if the dealer tries to play "switchy" games.
