So, im installing the MGW shifter on my car and im setting the stops currently on my shifter. I have a light that hooks up to that battery and well i had it on alittle to long than all of sudden everything goes dim. Now if i try to start the car i hear a tick, tick, tick, tick sound kind of like someone getting electricitied* Im guessing its my battery, but now.. how do i fix this??

u can try letting it sit for a few hours and trying to start again (let it run for a while so the alt has time to recharge the battery)

or you can jump start the car (again let it run for a while)

or u can buy a battery charger

how old is the battery? it may just be time for a new one

****.

Is the ticking sound normal for a dead/drained battery when trying to crank the car?

jump the car, take it for a spin... run it for 20+ minutes

more than likely youll be good to go, if it still wont start, get new battery.

get a battery charger and re-charge the battery...or if your battery is much more than 3 or 4 years old just go ahead and replace it

you can burn out your alternator using it to recharge a flat battery

That tick is probably a "spark" popping off of the posts happening each time you try that. Get the battery tested if its old, otherwise just jump it off and let it recharge.

If it's a 5 speed, just push start it.

actually the "tick" is the solenoid chattering due to lack of proper voltage/current.

It somewhat depends where the actual noise is coming from. I was driving a car other than my own all last week which has the function (as most cars do these days) where the lights turn on/off without the driver having to do anything. I then drove my car the other day to the store and forgot to turn off the lights like an idiot. When I went back outside and tried to turn it over it wasn't happening.

It would spark near the posts which somewhat resembles what happens when you have a loose connector on it.

but yes, the noise he is probably talking about is the starter solenoid.

Good luck trying to jump start it by pushing it lol. WIth a dead battery that probably wont happen....the EEC requires alot of juice to keep going, not sure if the alt can keep up just spinning @ 700RPMs...unless you can fin a BIG hill so you can get the RPMs up to around 2500. And even still the alt needs power to make power. I would just jump it.

I remember about 3-4 years ago when I was working at HEB (no GT), I was driving my dads 00V6...left the lights on for about 4 hours. Come out for break to get something...remote will not unluck door. Im like WHAT? look inside...light knob is on . Treid push starting it with the help of a few people...no dice. FINALLY got a lady to give me a jump. After about 2 minutes I fired it up, and I had to keep it @ 3K RPMs for a good 10 minutes just so the car would run.
If I let the rpms drop it would try to die on me.

Thought i would save you the trouble And like said, clicking= totally normal. Its the starter pushing the little gear out inline with the flywheel teeth..but it doesnt have enough power to actually turn anything. When you let off you should hear anoth click...the shaft and gear going back inside the starter.

keep the RPMs up...im not sure if it will actually charge @ idle. Put a block under the gas and rev it to 2500RPMs and hold it there for about 15 minutes.
