did I pay to much for my 92 LX

If it's in good shape, then I would say you got a fair deal. I've noticed something that always makes me wonder about people. Whenever you buy something, they will always say "well I know where you could get one just like it(or better) for less." kind of as a one-up on you. I bought my truck for 13K, 02 siverado LS trim. So I'm all happy and most are like "nice truck" but this one idiot has to say "oh, I know where you could have gotten one with less miles on it for less" and it turned out to be a v6 WT (worktruck) with a beat up bed. However, before this, I was told how nice of a truck it was. When I got my Mustang, back in 2001, I paid $4800 for it, which it was 91K miles and bone stock, but in good condition. My roomate at the time was talking about getting this other one, it had rims, some mods, and it was a notch. It was going for $4500, and had a lot more done to it. Until you look underneath, rust and looked like someone went ramping railroad tracks. Oh but the new paint looked great, except where it was chipping under the front fender.

What I am trying to say is don't listen to them. Yes, maby you could have run into a great deal, but probally not.

People often forget that the average foxbody mustang is not nessessarily what most of us would consider a "clean" car. Getting a rust free, under 100k milage car thats close to stock or has very well thought out and executed mods is not that easy.

I paid 4k for an 87 notch with 160k on the chassis and 64k on a 92 engine drivetrain. It was a 4cyl conversion but it was done by a ford master tech. It came w/ most of the mods I have in my sig and what I call 10 footer paint job and I still think I got a steal.

If you like the car, it does not matter what you paid.

Clean ones seem to be getting harder to find, and it is easy to get that much money in nearly any Mustang, with just a bit of repair, especially bodywork, and a few mods.

For my 92 I paid, 8k 4 years ago, but it only had 43,000 original miles on it with only 2 owners. It was immaculate with no problems. My 91 was considerably more of a PITA, and I think the 8k spent on the '92 was well worth it, now.
