Yesterday coming home from the mall, I get into my car and push the clutch in, and I hear a snap and the pedal goes all the way to the back. Now it feels the pedal is completely free of any tension, so I assumed that the cable snapped. Am I right in assuming this, and is a cable a difficult thing to replace?

You are rigth. You're cable is gone. Not that hard to replace one. I had to do it for the first time not to long ago.

is not that hard to replace if you get a stock one! they cost about 30 bucks at autozone! or you can get you an adjustable cable with quadrant about 110.00 -120.00! its a little more difficult to put on and the quadrant is a bit$#

You probably snapped the cable, but you might've busted a piece of your quadrant as well. Now would be the perfect time to get an adjustable quad and firewall adjuster. If it was your cable, don't get a crappy Autozone replacement - get a good stock Ford cable, it's much better quality.

I agree if you can afford it get the firewall adjuster. You can buy a whole kit but I hear the cable that comes with it is inferior to stock Fords, so buy a kit and a cable seperate or try the kits cable and see how it works for you. If you cannot afford it just buy a stock Ford cable. The adjusters are popular for a reason I bet.
