You should adjust your W-4 to take more exceptions so you don't end up loaning the government that much money (interest free) next year too.

It's your choice, but assuming you're not self-employed, almost every employer offers some sort of payroll deduction. You could set that up to a savings account or money market account, and you'd be earning the interest instead of the government.

That said, as a taxpayer, I would like to say thank you for your extra donation (the interest on your $5k loan).
