difference from cat back and axle back

what is the difference from cat back and axle back and also with the o/r x pipe or h pipe do you not have cats anymore

Cat-Back replaces all exhaust components from the mid-pipe to the exit...
Axle-Back replaces the mufflers only.

O/R = off-road means no catalytic converters.

You will also hear the term "Catted X Pipe or H Pipe" mentioned alot, that means it has Cats.

I dont know if you knew that or not, BUT, it confused me when I first started doing research on Exhaust Systems.

o/r means off road, which is without cats and can not be "legally" used on the street.

Yep, these guys nailed it. Axlebacks replace only what's behind the axle.

A lot of mufflers for the S197 are mis-named as catbacks, when they really only replace the part after the axle.
