Fox Differences Between The 2016 2.3t And The Turbo Coupe 84-86 Engines?

Hey guys not sure where I should have posted this or if you'll rage because of these two questions but just questions. What are the differences between the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe engines and the 2016 2.3 Turbo engines? Can the 6 speed transmission and DOHC head bolt to the older style block? Thanks in advance!

I would have to look up the specs and such, but I would almost guarantee that you couldn't use the heads on the old block.

I would look at the direct injection of the newer four as one of the key areas that would cause problems.

Good question though, something for me to look into for myself.

While I couldn't say definitively, I'd say no. The old lima block is a completely different architecture.

I'm pretty sure it's a new engine from ground up.

Kinda like how the new 5.0 has nothing in common with the old one

It is possible however to bolt down a dual overhead cam Volvo head on to the Ford block. The falvo they make plenty of power

Lol. No but this type of mod is really the best way to make the 2.3 really wake up the flow potential of the Volvo head is amazing. Not to mention the intake and the fact it's now a 4 valve

That guy did drag week a long time ago. He'd run 9s, change up his tune, and get high 20s low 30s mpg wise between tracks.

Watching Huber is what made me go turbo. You cant bolt a supercharger on a fourbanger and get performance like that.

I was going to do the Folvo swap but then again you can swap a cheap 5.0 in a car and turbo it for around the same price and make more power. It totals up to like 1200 to find/make the parts to do a Folvo swap. Do you guys mind if I ask another question?
