Hi all ok here is the deal I have a 91 vert with 5 speed and 373 gears. I also have a 90 Vert AOD with Stock gears. I want to swap the 373 to the AOD car. How would you guys go about this project? and how long do you think it would take? Any pointers from past experiences? The one thing that worries me is the 5 speed has a little vibration in the shifter at higher speed which I think is the crappy drive shaft. But I would hate to go through all this trouble and the vibration be in the rear end. Thats not very common for the vibration to be from the gear is it?

Thanks for any help on this

Thanks but would you change out the whole rearends or just pull the axels and change the chunks. Im not sure about this, if I do that will the chunk hold all the depth settings?

Thanks

Providing you have adequate jacks and stands, and none of the hardware is seized.. its not a bad job to do. A buddy helps as well.

It may line up if you use the same shims, but that's something you might have to play with to get right.. not many people have the right tools or know how to set diff's up properly. It's not something that i would take on myself.

i done the same job last night. took about 2 hrs with a buddy of mine. we jack both up and changed the chunks. we kept the shims with the chunks they were with. its probably not the proper way to do it. but it worked and dont have a hint of whining. i say go for it.

remember to mark exactly how the drive shaft comes out. IF you put it back wrong it can cause a vibration. Also if you move the drive shaft one bolt at a time and then drive the car you may can correct the vibration. lots of work but it may help!

on the rear ends, I definetly would just swap the whole rear end.....changeing gears is no biggie for someone that has done it before, but it could run into some problems quick. If it were me I'd just swap both the rear ends out!
