Disc brakes, what is the difference between the 99-02 GT and the 03-04 GT

I was under the impression that the dual piston calipers and caliper brackes for 99-04 mustang GTs were all the same however if I look up part numbers on several automotive web pages I see different part numbers for the 99-02 comparesd to the 03-04. Can some one tell me what the differences are and also are the calipers and brackets interchangable?

They are interchangable and yes the do have differnt part numbers for that way FORD can keep you buying different parts.

I actually have MACH Brakes on my car and the rears are stock which come on The v6 and GT.

usually when ford changes part numbers something changes like the thread on the banjoe bolts or somthing of that nature. Are there any differences like that that any one knows about?

IIRC, in '03 and '04 ABS was an option whereas the older ones it was just there.. maybe I'm thinking something else.

Anyways, I'm not sure what difference that would make on pad size.

They changed the thread sizes for the banjo bolt.

99-02 were the fine size bolts

03-04 were coarse sized

ABS/TC was an option for 04 only

Ford 2003 it was standard on the premium models but optional on the deluxe
