I was out Saturday night and the car just died. I was thinking the worse but I tested and found I had no spark. Thought it was either the coil or module but swapped them out for the stockers and same problem. It turned out the plastic pickup in the distributer broke off some how and dicinigrated into the distriibuter wheel, and did a good job bending it as it was turned to powder and little peices. Took it all apart, put a new pickup from NAPA in there, and spend a good deal of time strightening the wheel out and fired up the car and it revves better, had a little hesitiation before. Maby this was the reason for my car cutting out sometimes. Has anyone else had this happen???

Mine went out a few weeks ago, but it was not abrupt, it just started missing bad when warmed up, causing the car to buck and jump. But when cool, it ran fine. Replaced it with a friend's extra distributor, and it ran fine. Then I manually turned the shaft, and the PIP was actually hitting the shaft as it turned, so it was obviously broken. Apparently it was cracked or something and the heat caused it to mess with the timing. Anyway, I have a newer used distributor in there now, so hopefully it will last me a while.
