Do I NEED TO CONVERT OR STICK WITH SPEED DENSITY?

 I have an 88 5.0 gt. I am wondering if i should do the mass
air conversion or not. I plan on keeping the car pretty much stock except for the following mods.
Equal length headers.
373 gears
Off road h pipe/ flowmaster exhaust.
BBK cold air intake.
140 amp alt
a/c delete

I do not plan on any other mods. Would I be better off sticking with the speed density? Or will I run into some
problems like the idle for instance.

Also can i put a 1992 gauge cluster in an 88.
Will the check engine light still work?
I noticed there is one on the actual cluster.
which one will be hooked up?

I would stay with your SD system. I have with about what U want and it works fine. I will have 1.7 RR and a Cobra intake real soon. Hope that wont change have nice my SD system runs!!

Your car should run just fine with those mods, mine does you can see what I have in my sig.

California cars had mass-air in 1988 while all others were SD, all mustangs starting in 1989 were mass-air.

Would a change in injector size bring a need to switch from SD.

If you are going to change your injector size than you do need to switch to mass air unless you want to use a custom chip. If you are going that far than go mass air anyway, then you are ready for bigger mods. Ford sells the harness adaptor, its about 90$ cdn it's just hard to find a computer for the thing (it was for me). The harness isn't hard to install, just take your time with it. good luck :D

The cost factor is what gets me on this one. I stopped in Ramcharges and was told that by the time I was done doing a mass air conversion I would be out of close to six hundred if I bought one of their kits. That's alot of cash for no additional HP. To get a chip burned and installed would cost half that. If you are telling me I can go to a larger injector size and only have to have a to purchase a chip, that seems like a good move to me.

I appreciate your response.
