Do Limited slip Diffs(on a '98 gt) let out strange sounds?

I ask because when I turn my steering wheel all the way to pull into a parking space I hear a popping sounds. I feel it on my shifter as well (5spd). Is this normal? The carmax tech suggested that it may be the limited slip diff and that the sound was normal. I don't think the noise I heard is normal. It was too lound and didn't sound good at all. What do you guys think.

Ford limited slip units are clutch plate type differentials. The only way they will make any noise at all is if the additive was not used then the cluch packs will be grabbing in turns.

With proper maintainance and lubricant they should be 99.9% quiet.
