DO STROKER KITS REALLY MAKE THAT BIG OF A DIFFERENCE?

:flag: :flag: Hi, My name is Will Lamb. I currently Own a 2001 Mustang "BULLITT", and have just purchased the 5.1L STroker kit for my MOD engine, with all forged internals, plus my other mods, which include, BBK Headers, BBK underdrive pulleys, O/R X pipe, 100mm Densecharger, 2 chamber flowmasters, and BBK throttle body. None of which are installed as of yet. Everything except the stroker kit is sitting in my basement awaiting installation. My goal is to reach 300RWHP. Will these modifications get me there?? Also I am looking for a set of cams, nothing extreme, just something to add a lil more power. Do you have any suggestions. Last, but not least when i get everything torn down for rebuild, what do you think it would cost to have it all put together and balanced?? I'm in the U.S. Marine Corps, and am only 18 years old so I'm on a tight budget and it's no telling when this will all be done but Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

why would you buy this stroker kit if you didnt do all the research first?? I can see in your future you are going to be disappointed. Stroker kits add a lot more torque but the main problem with the 4.6 is the small bore. We already have a long stroke for such a small motor.

the block has already been bored, .030 over, i keep making new threads trying to get a real answer. dont read or answer if your just gonna complain
I hope you mean .020 over on a stock 2v. Yes if the block has been machine and with cams, you can get 300rwhp. Would have been alot easier to just installs heads and cams.

Yes you will have good low end. Might feel like an old 302.

I believe you were given the answer but if you werent.

Stroking the motor will increase torque at the expense mid to upper range horsepower. If you get the big cams and a major PNP job on some heads your 300rwhp is not out of the question but not anywhere near as good as a big bore. The stroke in these motors is kind of a waste simple because the bore shrouds the valves and the more stroke the more air you have to get past that obstruction. Send it back or cancell your order and get a big bore it is 100 times better.

Well see the thing is, i ****ed up my bottom end and had to have it replaced anyways so i figured why not forge all my internals. Now im looking for a set of cams for it. Any suggestions?? And my car dyno'd 246.2 bone stock and your telling me this stroker kit, headers, densecharger, pulleys, throttle body, x pipe, and catback wont give me another 50rwhp?

well you are very vague on what you are getting so we cant just say yes. Be very specific on your setup.

yes you will be able to run 12s. Tall gears and sticky tires is all you need.

You probably could get a real answer if you would just be straight with everyone. No need to tell people you already have something installed that you don't. I am sure many people are wondering if you really have the stroker kit at all, you could just be using this to get info on it.

If you just want info on it, then JUST ASK.... no need to make up stories.

If you do have the stroker kit, get all the info on what you have and I am sure people will be able to help.

My advice, 1 Marine to another is to get rid of the forged kit now.
Get a stock replacement block.
Get some good heads for an N/A car.
Get some good cams to match.

Do a search on cams here. You will get a lot of info.
Checkout T&J Performance's web site for some ideas.

Sorry bout being Vague, I just aint real experienced with this whole thing. It's new to me. Well reason is i ****ed up my bottom end with nitrous, i dunno what exactly it did to my car cuz it was only a 75shot but my engine shut off and wouldnt start. So i was gonna just replace all my internals with forged products so my engine will be strong again.

These are the MODS I ACTUALLY have in my possession jus sittin in my basement till i get the money to install. Honestly how much HP can i expect to gain out of what i have now?

LOL I think you should keep your car stock man. Have you checked for a big gaping hole in your intake?
