Do you need to laminate silver vinyl stripes?

I was hoping to have installed metallic silver stripes on my 2006 redfire but the shop states they need to laminate the stripes at an additional $200.00 so they don't turn green from the elements. Is this really necessay? Can't waxing protect them?

Sounds like overkill to me. As long as your buying a high quality kit
from a reputable dealer you will be good.
